About Sierra

A spunky blend of Americana and indie rock based out of Nashville, Tennessee, Sierra Bryan’s sound draws inspiration from Sharon Van Etten, Soccer Mommy, Julia Jacklin, and musical influence from the likes of Gregory Alan Isakov and Joni Mitchell. Her 2020 debut album, Breathing In, Breathing Out, showcases her melancholy-yet-goofy approach to songwriting that holds storytelling at the center of her lyrics. She combines pop sensibilities and vulnerable melodies with acoustic roots to create a unique modern folk sound.

Originally from Austin, Texas, Bryan spent the last six years in the high deserts of Flagstaff, Arizona learning the ropes of the DIY music trade. Alongside completing a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, she has been dabbling in touring across the U.S., writing and recording music,  getting medicated, and is currently scheming and working that service industry life to make the dream work. You can catch her on tour this fall promoting her new record, The Half of It, set to release September 12th.

The beautifully crafted lyrics, paired with the soft strength of her unique voice, make for a playful listening experience that takes you from a peaceful meditation to rocking out and dancing in your living room.” –2021 Viola Awards (presented by Creative Flagstaff)

Upcoming

Sierra Bryan’s sophomore album, The Half of It, tells the story of a woman trying to make sense of her messy and disorganized thoughts in a vulnerable yet humorous way. Navigating mental health in adulthood, Bryan pendulums between her fear that her struggles make her unloveable and her desire for close human connection. While her songs have silly titles such as “I Think I Need a Hobby” and “The Punchline is ‘I Have Depression,’” these self aware jabs aim to bring attention to life’s every day little heartaches and the mundane ways in which dark thoughts become routine.
